A VISIT TO A HOSPITAL
A VISIT TO A HOSPITAL
I
have visited clinics and dispensaries but not a general hospital. The
opportunity came when one day, my father took me to visit a friend of this who
was seriously and was undergoing specialist treatment in the Singapore general
hospital.
The
hospital is housed in a spacious compound and my father was kind enough to show
me around. There are at least two dozen blocks consisting of consultation
rooms, first, second and third class wards. Most of the buildings have many stories.
Since it was during the evening hours, hundreds of people were visiting the
sick-people and there was a continuous stream of people visiting the various
wards. Nurses and attendants were seen waking up and down. It was a busy scene.
My
father then showed me the medical college and the mortuary. It was stinking
terribly when I visited the mortuary. I saw a least half a dozen dead bodies
there and it was indeed a frightening sight.
